How to Edit SVG Files in Silhouette Studio: Remove Objects and Add Text
In Silhouette Studio, editing SVG files is a breeze, but keep in mind that only Designer Edition and higher versions can open SVG files. This guide will show you how to open an SVG, remove unwanted objects, and add your own text to customize your design.
Steps to Open an SVG File in Silhouette Studio (Designer Edition and Up):
1. Launch Silhouette Studio:
- Open Silhouette Studio on your computer.
2. Open the SVG File:
- Click File in the top menu, then choose Open.
- Browse for your SVG file on your computer, select it, and click OK to open it in your workspace.
Steps to Remove Unwanted Objects:
1. Ungroup the Design Elements:
- Select the SVG design by clicking on it.
- Right-click and select Ungroup. This will break the design into individual elements for editing.
2. Select and Delete Unwanted Objects:
- Click on any object you want to remove from the design.
- Press Delete on your keyboard or right-click and select Delete to remove the object.
- Repeat for each item you want to remove.
Steps to Add Your Own Text:
1. Create a Text Box:
- On the left-hand toolbar, click the Text Tool (A), then click anywhere on the canvas to create a text box.
2. Enter and Customize Your Text:
- Type your desired text into the box.
- Use the top toolbar to change the font, size, and style to match your design.
3. Position the Text:
- Move your text to the correct spot by clicking and dragging it within the design. You can resize or rotate the text using the bounding box around it.
Save Your Edited File:
Once your design is customized, go to File > Save As to save your project. If you need to export the file for use in other programs, select an appropriate format to export such as SVG or PNG.
