Unlock the potential for unique brushstroke effects in Procreate by harnessing the power of Dual Brushes. This innovative feature allows you to combine and edit two individual Procreate brushes to create something entirely new. In this guide, we'll walk you through the process of combining, editing, changing blend modes, and uncombining Dual Brushes.

Combining Brushes

1. Selecting Brushes: Start by tapping the Brush button to access the Brush Library. Make sure the two brushes you want to combine are in the same Brush Set.

Pro Tip: You can only combine single brushes, and existing Dual Brushes cannot be combined. Duplicate default Procreate brushes if needed.

2. Primary and Secondary Brushes: Tap the first brush you want to combine (Primary), and it will turn bright blue. Swipe to select the second brush (Secondary), which will turn dark blue. You'll see the word "Combine" at the top right of the Brush Library. Tap it to merge the two brushes into a new one with qualities from both.

3. Renaming: Your new Dual Brush will take on the name of the Primary brush. To rename it, tap to enter Brush Studio, then tap "About this Brush" and edit the name as needed.

Editing Brushes

1. Customizing: Modify the appearance of your Dual Brush by editing the component brushes separately. Tap your Dual Brush to access the Brush Studio. On the top left, you'll see a preview of the two brushes that make up your Dual Brush.

2. Independent Editing: You can adjust the settings of each brush independently. Simply tap the brush you want to edit, and a blue line will appear beside it. Any edits you make will apply only to the selected brush.

Combine Mode

1. Blend Your Brushes: Change the look of your Dual Brush by adjusting how the brushes blend together. This can lead to visually captivating results, much like changing layer Blend Modes.

2. Accessing Combine Mode: In the Brush Studio, tap your Dual Brush. At the top left, you'll see a preview of the two brushes. Tap either one to expand the panel and reveal the "Combine Mode" option.

3. Exploring Blend Modes: By default, the Combine Mode is set to "Normal." Tap it to view the full list of Combine Modes. Experiment with different modes to see live results on the Drawing Pad. You can also explore the "Blend Modes" section for more information.

Uncombining Brushes

1. Separate Your Dual Brush: If you wish to revert your Dual Brush back to two separate brushes, follow these steps.

2. Access Uncombine: In the Brush Studio, tap your Dual Brush. On the top left, you'll see a preview of both brushes. Tap either preview to expand the panel. Select the "Secondary Brush" preview, and tap "Uncombine."

3. Result: Your Dual Brush will split back into its two separate component brushes.

Dual Brushes open up a world of creative possibilities in Procreate. Experiment, blend, and customize to achieve the brushstroke effects you desire. Enjoy your artistic journey with this powerful feature!
