Customisation Platform Guidelines for the Corporate Licence

Issue: How can fonts and graphics be used within a website, app or customisation platform under the Design Bundles Corporate Licence?

Resolution: The Corporate Licence allows one licensed company or organisation to use eligible fonts and graphics within certain customer-facing customisation tools.The platform must protect the original files and deliver the customer’s finished design as either a non-editable, flattened digital file or a printed physical product.

Who Is Covered?

The Corporate Licence covers employees and members of one company or organisation.

It does not automatically cover separate companies, clients, contractors or subsidiaries. Each separate organisation may require its own licence.

Using Fonts on a Company-Owned Platform

You can use a licensed font within a website, app or customisation platform owned and operated by your company.

Customers may use the font to personalise text within your platform, provided that:

• The finished design is supplied as a non-editable, flattened digital file or printed physical product
• Customers cannot download or extract the original font file
• The font file is protected from hotlinking and direct access through the website’s source code
• The original font file is not transferred or distributed to customers

Using Fonts in Shops Hosted on Other Platforms

You can upload a font to a company-operated shop hosted within another platform, such as Templett or Corjl.

Customers may use the font within your preformatted templates to enter their own text and personalise a design.

The completed design must be supplied as:

• A non-editable, flattened digital file, such as a PDF
• A finished physical product

The font must remain protected from extraction, hotlinking and direct downloading.

Using Modified Graphics

You can modify and combine graphics, illustrations, clipart and other design elements to create a new and original transformative design. The new design may be added to a customisation platform if:

• The original asset has been sufficiently modified and combined with other elements
• It forms part of a new and original design
• It does not compete with or closely resemble the original product
• The original files cannot be accessed or extracted by the customer
• The customer receives a flattened digital file or finished physical product

Minor changes such as recolouring an asset or adding simple text may not be enough to create a transformative design.

Using As-Is Graphics

An as-is graphic may be used as one element within a larger design created by the customer.

This is permitted only when:

• The graphic does not provide the majority of the final design’s value
• The customer combines it with other elements to create a larger overall design
• The platform produces a finished physical product or a flattened digital file intended for printing
• The original graphic file remains protected and cannot be downloaded or extracted

What Is Not Allowed?

The Corporate Licence does not allow you to:

• Give customers access to original font or graphic files
• Allow customers to extract individual licensed elements
• Supply editable files containing extractable licensed assets
• Allow direct downloading or hotlinking of the original files
• Use an as-is graphic as the main value of a downloadable digital product
• Resell, redistribute or transfer the original assets
• Use one company’s Corporate Licence to cover a separate company, client or subsidiary

Protecting Licensed Files

Fonts and graphics used within the platform must be encoded, hidden or otherwise protected.

Customers must not be able to access the licensed files through:

• The platform’s source code
• Direct file URLs
• Browser inspection tools
• Downloadable project or template files
• Editable outputs containing the original assets
